Cooperation is Key to Food Security: DCALFA in Action Across the Islands
At DCALFA, we believe that collaboration is the foundation of resilience—and a recent success story between Aruba and Bonaire proves just how impactful island partnerships can be.
Thanks to coordinated efforts between LVV Aruba (Santa Rosa), LVV Bonaire, GenAir Aruba, and Divi Divi Air, Bonaire welcomed in January 2025 three valuable additions to its livestock sector: a Boer goat buck, an Anglo-Nubian buck, and a Boer goat doe. These high-quality breeds bring new opportunities for genetic diversity and stronger livestock breeding, directly supporting local food production and long-term agricultural sustainability.
This achievement was made possible through the DCALFA alliance, a growing network that connects agricultural leaders across the Dutch Caribbean to share resources, knowledge, and support. Together, we’re laying the groundwork for a more food-secure future—one built on regional cooperation and a shared commitment to our farmers and communities.

Let’s work together, learn from one another, and build a resilient agriculture sector across our islands.
By strengthening local food systems and improving breeding programs, we’re not just raising goats—we’re raising the standard of sustainable agriculture across our region.
